On July 29, 2024, at approximately 12:45 am, Selkirk RCMP responded to a report of a motorcycle collision on Highway 44, located approximately one kilometer east of Highway 59. Officers responded to the scene and located the motorcycle driver with life-threatening injuries who was transported to hospital where he remains in critical condition.

It was believed that the victim was being held against her will at another location and was being assaulted.
