Barren Lands First Nation — Thompson Rural RCMP respond to fatal structure fire

On March 19, 2024, at 11:15 pm, Thompson Rural RCMP received a report of a structure fire at a residence located in the community of Barren Lands First Nation. RCMP were advised that there were three occupants inside the home at the time of the fire and that one of them was unaccounted for. The local fire department responded. At approximately 3:30 am, firefighters were able to safely enter the home where they located a male who was pronounced deceased. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
