Island Lake — Update- Island Lake RCMP investigate homicide

On February 18, 2024, Jayna Knott, 26, of Wasagamack Anisininew Nation, was charged with Second Degree murder in the homicide of a one-year-old male that occurred on February 17, 2024. She was remanded into custody. On February 17, 2024, at approximately 9:15 am, Island Lake RCMP responded to a child death on Wasagamack First Nation. Officers arrived and located a one-year-old male deceased. The death is being investigated as a homicide. A 26-year-old female has been arrested and remains in custody.
