On November 16, 2024, at approximately 6:15 am, Thompson RCMP received a report of a gunshot being heard in an apartment complex located on Ashberry Place in Thompson. Officers had already responded to the hospital on a report of a 25-year-old male, from South Indian Lake, arriving at the hospital suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. He was last reported to be in stable condition in hospital.

While patrolling the area, officers conducted a traffic stop and recognized the male driver of the vehicle as a person with an outstanding warrant.
