RM of Emerson-Franklin — Emerson RCMP respond to fatal collision

On August 25, 2024, at 11:00 am, RCMP officers were patrolling westbound on Provincial Road 201, nearing Highway 59, when they observed thick black smoke coming from a tree line located near a property on Road 9N. Officers attended to the location and located a pickup truck engulfed in flames. The local fire department was contacted to attend. Once the fire was extinguished, fire fighters located the driver, now confirmed as a 58-year-old male from Steinbach, who was pronounced deceased on scene.
