On August 2, 2024, at approximately 7:30 am, Ste Rose du Lac RCMP received a report regarding a male discharging a firearm on Beaulieu Road, in Ebb and Flow First Nation. RCMP Emergency Response Team, Police Dog Services, and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems all were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, RCMP learned 28-year-old Billy Roulette of Sandy Bay First Nation, had pointed a shotgun at people and held a female captive against her will for five days.

Officers attended and located a 48-year-old male from the community deceased as a result of homicide. The deceased was the resident of the home. RCMP Major Crime Services investigators attended to Emerson. Investigation quickly determined this was an isolated incident and there was no risk to public safety.
