Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation — Nelson House RCMP search leads to seizure of firearm

On June 11, 2024, Nelson House RCMP received information that two male youths were in possession of a loaded firearm and making threats towards community members. The firearm in question was an SR-410 Revolver Shotgun. Photos of the firearm were being shared on social media. The investigation led to the June 13 execution of a Public Safety Warrant at a residence located on McDonald Road in Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation. As a result of the search, officers seized the firearm as well as a can of bear mace. Nelson House RCMP continue to investigate.

While patrolling the area, officers conducted a traffic stop and recognized the male driver of the vehicle as a person with an outstanding warrant.
