On May 23, 2024, at approximately 7:05 pm, Turtle Mountain RCMP and officers from the Manitoba RCMP West District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team executed a search warrant at a residence in Killarney as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation. Officers seized approximately 57 grams of cocaine, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency. A 53-year-old female was arrested for Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. She was released pending a court date.

Officers attended and located a 48-year-old male from the community deceased as a result of homicide. The deceased was the resident of the home. RCMP Major Crime Services investigators attended to Emerson. Investigation quickly determined this was an isolated incident and there was no risk to public safety. When officers arrived on scene, the house was completely engulfed. Nobody was believed to be in the building. When the fire was out, the scene was contained and it was determined that the house had been empty when the fire broke out. Nobody was injured.
