On June 23, 2024, at approximately 7:45 am, Little Grand Rapids RCMP, received a report of a possible drowning that occurred the night before on Family Lake. It was reported that three males were on the lake, returning to the community of Little Grand Rapids, when their boat broke down. While they were trying to fix the motor, one of the males, a 50-year-old, fell into the water and didn't resurface. One of the males jumped into the water to try and pull the drowning male to safety but was not able to.

While patrolling the area, officers conducted a traffic stop and recognized the male driver of the vehicle as a person with an outstanding warrant.
