Grand Rapids — Grand Rapids RCMP respond to missing boaters

On June 28, 2024, at approximately 7:00 am, Grand Rapids RCMP responded to a report of missing boaters on Little Moose Lake near Grand Rapids.  The three adult males, aged 28, 29 and 31, from Misipawistik Cree Nation, travelled by boat to the north basin of Lake Winnipeg to hunt moose. They were returning to the community but did not show up at their meeting place, and have not had contact with anyone. A number of resources were deployed to the area including several Search and Rescue groups and the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team.

While patrolling the area, officers conducted a traffic stop and recognized the male driver of the vehicle as a person with an outstanding warrant.
