RM of Woodlands — Gypsumville RCMP lay numerous charges after robbery

On May 22, 2024, at approximately 8:55 am, Gypsumville RCMP responded to a report of a male having been shot with an airsoft gun on Highway 6, located near Strong Lake.   As officers were responding to the call, information was received that several employees from Manitoba Hydro had stopped at the scene and provided first aid to the victim, kept him warm and placed numerous traffic cones in order to provide emergency services personnel a clearly marked area to safely work in due to the heavy volume of traffic.

Officers attended and located a 48-year-old male from the community deceased as a result of homicide. The deceased was the resident of the home. RCMP Major Crime Services investigators attended to Emerson. Investigation quickly determined this was an isolated incident and there was no risk to public safety. When officers arrived on scene, the house was completely engulfed. Nobody was believed to be in the building. When the fire was out, the scene was contained and it was determined that the house had been empty when the fire broke out. Nobody was injured. It was also determined that three youths were seen in the vicinity of the house at the time the fire started. Tags:
